A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises the nipple and breast tissue, reshapes the breast and removes stretched skin. It is chosen after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or simply with time, when the breasts have dropped and the nipples point lower than the patient would like.
The trade-off at the centre of every breast lift is shape against scars: the more skin that needs removing, the longer the scar. The second decision is volume — a lift alone reshapes existing tissue, while adding an implant restores fullness but changes the risk profile. If fullness is the main concern and the nipple position is still good, breast augmentation may be enough. If the breasts are also heavy and uncomfortable, a breast reduction lifts as it reduces.

How the Degree of Sagging Shapes the Plan
Surgeons assess sagging (ptosis) mainly by where the nipple sits relative to the fold beneath the breast, and by how much skin is stretched. This largely decides the incision pattern:

A systematic review of lifts performed without implants grouped techniques into reshaping the skin, reshaping the breast gland, gland reshaping with tissue flaps, and gland reshaping supported by mesh. Ask your surgeon which approach they propose and what scar you should expect.

Lift With or Without Implants
A single operation combining a lift with implants (augmentation-mastopexy) is common, because many patients have both sagging and volume loss. It is also more complex: the implant adds volume while the lift tightens the skin envelope, and these goals work against each other.
A systematic review of 4,856 single-stage augmentation-mastopexy cases found a pooled complication rate of 13.1%. The most common problem was recurrent sagging (5.2%), followed by poor scarring (3.7%), capsular contracture (3.0%) and asymmetry (2.9%). Across the studies that reported it, the reoperation rate was 10.7%. The authors concluded that with careful patient selection these rates are acceptably low, while noting that study quality varied and most follow-up was under a year.

Is a Breast Lift Suitable for You?

Breast Lift Cost in Turkey
In September 2026, breast lift prices advertised by Turkish providers started from around €2,250, with many offers between roughly €2,700 and €4,900; all-inclusive packages were commonly advertised at about €2,900–€4,000. Adding implants was advertised as adding roughly €1,200–€2,000. These are advertised observations, not quotes.

Before-and-After Photos
Compare photographs taken in the same pose and lighting from the front and both sides. Look at nipple height and symmetry, scar quality, and whether the upper breast holds its shape. Photographs at six to twelve months show whether the lift has settled; very early photographs often look higher than the final result.

Risks and Safety Considerations
In a systematic review of 1,888 patients who had a lift without implants, the overall complication rate was 10.4%. The most frequent problems were related to scars (3%, including thick or unsightly scars) and to the nipple and areola (2.9%, including distortion, asymmetry and reduced sensation); unsatisfactory breast shape was reported in 1.3%. The authors highlighted scars, asymmetry and the possibility of sagging returning as issues patients should be told about.
Other risks include wound breakdown where incisions meet, changes in nipple sensation, fat necrosis, bleeding, infection and, rarely, loss of part of the nipple. When implants are added, implant-related risks also apply.

How Long to Stay in Turkey
Patients commonly plan around 7–10 days in Turkey after a breast lift, with one night in hospital, so that wounds can be checked before flying. Avoid lifting heavy luggage, and ask about compression stockings and walking during the flight. Your surgeon confirms when you are fit to travel.

What does a breast lift do?+
A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises and reshapes breasts that have dropped by removing excess skin, tightening the remaining skin and moving the nipple and areola to a higher position. The areola can also be made smaller if it has stretched. A lift changes position and shape rather than size, so breasts that have lost volume may still look less full afterwards. It is commonly considered after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or age-related changes, and it can be combined with implants or a reduction depending on whether you want more or less volume.
How do I know if I need a breast lift?+
A breast lift is usually considered when the nipple sits at or below the fold beneath the breast, or when most breast tissue hangs below that fold. Surgeons grade breast drooping, called ptosis, by comparing nipple position with the fold and assessing skin quality and stretch marks. Some patients mainly have lost upper-breast fullness with a nipple still above the fold, and they may be better suited to implants or fat transfer alone. Because these distinctions are subtle, the right option depends on examination and measurements rather than photographs alone.
What scars does a breast lift leave?+
Breast lift scars depend on how much skin needs to be removed. A periareolar or donut lift leaves a scar around the areola and suits small corrections. A vertical or lollipop lift adds a scar running down from the areola to the fold beneath the breast. An anchor or inverted-T lift adds a further scar along that fold and is used for more significant drooping. Scars are permanent, but they usually fade and flatten over 12–18 months. Healing varies with skin type, tension on the wound and smoking, so ask to see healed scars in before-and-after photos.
Should I have a breast lift with implants?+
A breast lift with implants may suit you if you want your breasts higher and firmer and also want more upper-breast fullness than your own tissue provides. Combining them, called augmentation-mastopexy, addresses both position and volume, but it is more complex than either operation alone because the surgeon is enlarging and tightening the breast at the same time. Some surgeons perform it in one operation; others recommend two stages for selected patients to improve safety or predictability. How long do breast lift results last?+
A breast lift permanently repositions the nipple and removes excess skin, but breasts continue to age, so some drooping usually returns over the years. Gravity, skin quality, breast weight, pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight changes all influence how long the shape is maintained. Heavier breasts and large implants tend to descend sooner, while keeping a stable weight and wearing supportive bras may help. Many surgeons advise completing your family and reaching a stable weight before a lift, since pregnancy and weight loss can undo part of the result.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?+
Many women can breastfeed after a breast lift, because the nipple usually stays attached to the underlying breast tissue and milk ducts. However, any breast surgery can affect milk supply or nipple sensation, and no surgeon can promise that breastfeeding will be possible. The risk may be greater when more tissue is removed or repositioned. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can also change breast size and stretch the skin again, altering the result of a lift. If you plan to have children, discuss timing and technique with your surgeon before surgery.

Breast lift risks include thick, wide or raised scars, changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry in shape or nipple position, and delayed wound healing, often where scars meet beneath the breast. Other possible complications are bleeding, infection, fat necrosis felt as firm lumps, and, rarely, partial or complete loss of nipple and areola tissue due to reduced blood supply. Sagging can also return over time. Smoking significantly increases wound-healing problems. When implants are added, implant-related risks such as capsular contracture also apply. What is recovery like after a breast lift?+
Most patients stay one night in hospital after a breast lift and return to desk work within about 7–10 days. Early discomfort is usually managed with oral pain relief. A surgical support bra is typically worn day and night for several weeks. Surgeons generally advise avoiding heavy lifting, raising the arms above the head for long periods, and strenuous exercise during the first weeks. Swelling settles gradually, the breasts soften and drop slightly into their final shape over three to six months, and scars continue maturing for longer.
