Editorial Policy
How content on this site is researched, written, fact-checked, medically reviewed, and kept current — and what commercial relationships can never influence.
Editorial independence
Editorial content — procedure guides, city guides, and articles — is produced independently of any commercial relationship. A doctor or facility cannot pay for favourable treatment in editorial text, and cannot request specific claims be added or removed except to correct a factual inaccuracy.
How content is produced
- A draft is researched against the sources listed in our data sources page.
- The draft is fact-checked against those sources.
- Medical claims are checked for accuracy by a qualified medical reviewer before a page is shown as medically reviewed (see medical review policy).
- The page is published with its dates shown, and names its medical reviewer once it has been reviewed.
- Pages are re-reviewed on a schedule, and sooner if a correction is reported.
Corrections
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, see our corrections policy for how to report it and how we handle the report.
Distinguishing content types
- Editorial content — written and reviewed independently, never paid for.
- Directory listings — factual entries with no implied endorsement, never ranked, scored or paid for. How their order is decided is set out in our ranking methodology.
- Sponsored content — none. No listing, position or page is paid for, and the site carries no advertising.
