Ranking Methodology
Nothing on this site ranks or scores surgeons, hospitals or clinics. How the order of each list is decided, what it does not mean, and why no one can pay to change it.
No rankings, scores or reviews
We do not rank surgeons, hospitals or clinics against each other, give them a score or star rating, or publish patient reviews of them. No page on this site presents a “best” list. Each profile shows what we have found and checked, and where it came from.
How lists are ordered
- Surgeon directory — profiles with a photograph first, in alphabetical order within each group. Filters for procedure, city, language, checked credentials and published cases narrow the list without changing its order.
- Hospital and clinic directories — entries with their own photograph first, in alphabetical order within each group.
- Shorter lists on procedure, city, hospital, clinic and surgeon pages — entries with a photograph come first. On pages about one procedure in one city, surgeons are listed alphabetically.
- Homepage — the surgeons shown are the first in the surgeon directory's order. The hospitals and clinics shown are chosen from those with their own photographs by how much information their profile holds, with no more than one per hospital group and two per city.
- Before & After — surgeons with published cases are listed by how many cases each has published.
What the order does not mean
The order reflects what is on file — a photograph, how complete a profile is, how many cases are published — not skill, safety or results. Appearing first is not a recommendation, and a verification status never changes a profile's position.
The order is not for sale
No surgeon, hospital or clinic pays to be listed, and none can pay to be placed higher or to appear on the homepage. There are no sponsored placements on this site — see our advertising and sponsorship policy.
Corrections
A provider or reader who believes a profile is based on outdated or incorrect information can request a correction — see our corrections policy.
