What the same operation costs in each country.
The UK and US figures come only from national bodies — the NHS for the UK, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for the US — never from an agency, aggregator or clinic price list. The Türkiye range is the one recorded on this site from Turkish providers' own prices. Nothing is converted between currencies, because we hold no exchange rate we could date.

Why prices in Türkiye are lower — and what that does not mean.
Every claim below is tied to something you can open and check. Explanations we could not source — state subsidy, procedure volume, cheaper training — are left out rather than asserted.
Cosmetic surgery prices track local living costs
A published analysis of what drives cosmetic surgery pricing looked at 15 US cities and found price correlated strongly with the local cost-of-living index (r = 0.78) and with the cost of owning or renting premises (r = 0.71 and r = 0.70). Rent, staff wages and other running costs are generally lower in Türkiye than in London, New York or Zurich, and prices tend to reflect that.

Eurostat records that Türkiye's currency depreciated substantially against the euro across 2022–2024. A price set in lira and paid in pounds or euros therefore looks cheaper to the visitor than it does to a Turkish patient — and it moves. A quote given months ahead is exposed to that movement in a way a London quote is not.

The US column above is the ASPS average surgeon fee, which by its own footnote excludes anaesthesia, the operating room and other related expenses — all added on top. A full American total would be higher than the figure shown, so check what each Turkish price includes before comparing the two.

If the gap comes mostly from rent, wages and exchange rates, a lower figure on its own tells you little about the surgeon. What matters more is individual training and what the facility can do if something goes wrong — which is what the profiles on this site set out, field by field, with the source and date of every check.

The honest answer
Why two quotes for the same procedure differ
- Surgeon experience and demand
- A surgeon with a long waiting list prices differently from one building a practice, and neither price tells you about outcomes.
- What the package bundles
- Two quotes for the same procedure can differ by thousands purely because one includes hotel, transfers, and garments and the other does not.
- Facility type and overheads
- A full hospital with an ICU carries costs a day clinic does not. That difference is capability you may need, not just overhead.
- Technique and complexity
- Revision work, or a technique requiring specialist equipment or longer theatre time, legitimately costs more than a primary case.
- Currency and timing
- Prices quoted in lira move against your home currency. A figure collected months ago may not be what you are quoted today.
Before you pay anything
Pricing red flags
None of these prove bad intent on their own. Together, they describe a sales process rather than a clinical one.
