How we verify providers
Every doctor and facility profile carries a verification status. None of them means we endorse clinical quality. Each one describes exactly what was checked, against which source, and when.

What each status actually means
A badge with no explanation behind it is decoration. Each status below states what was confirmed and, just as importantly, what it does not tell you.
Listed, but no verification check has been completed.
- What we checked
- Nothing yet.
- What it is not
- It does not mean the provider is unlicensed or untrustworthy — only that we have not checked.
The provider is a real, identifiable person or legal entity.
- What we checked
- Company registry or professional register entry matching the name used.
- What it is not
- It says nothing about qualifications, licensing, or clinical standards.
A medical or facility licence has been checked against the issuing authority.
- What we checked
- Licence number confirmed as current with the body that issued it.
- What it is not
- A valid licence is a floor, not a mark of excellence. It does not describe skill or outcomes.
Board certification or specialty credentials confirmed with the certifying body.
- What we checked
- Certification status confirmed directly with the board that awards it.
- What it is not
- Certification standards differ between countries and boards. It is not a like-for-like global measure.
A facility's operating licence and physical existence have been checked.
- What we checked
- Operating licence with the health authority, plus confirmation the address is a real, operating site.
- What it is not
- We have not inspected the facility, and we hold no infection or complication data.
Multiple independent checks completed together.
- What we checked
- Credentials, licence, and facility affiliation each confirmed against separate sources.
- What it is not
- This is the most we check — it is still a documentation check, not an assessment of care.
A previous verification has passed its recheck date.
- What we checked
- Previously verified; the check is now due to be repeated.
- What it is not
- It does not imply anything has gone wrong. Credentials simply need re-confirming on a schedule.
Something has triggered a manual re-check.
- What we checked
- A correction report or conflicting information has prompted a new check of this profile.
- What it is not
- A flag is not a finding. It means we are looking again, not that a claim is false.
What we record for every verification
A status is only meaningful if it is traceable. For every check we keep the following, and a status is not allowed to stand without them.
Source
The named authority, register, or document the claim was checked against.
Date verified
When the check was performed, so you can judge how current it is.
Verified by
Which member of the team performed it, for internal accountability.
Evidence on file
What we actually hold — a register screenshot, a reference number, a written confirmation.
Recheck date
When the claim must be confirmed again before the status is allowed to stand.
What verification is not
The limits are the point
We also do not rank providers at all, and a verification status never changes where a profile appears in a list — see how the order is decided in our ranking methodology.
Verification cannot be bought
No surgeon, hospital or clinic pays to be listed here, and none can pay for a verification status or for a check to be skipped or fast-tracked. Verification is earned only through the checks described above. The site carries no sponsored placements — see our advertising and sponsorship policy.
If you think something here is wrong
If a credential, licence, or affiliation on this site is inaccurate — whether you are the provider or a reader who spotted it — tell us and we will re-check it against the source. Our corrections policy sets out what happens next and how quickly, and any flagged record moves to Needs re-review until the check is complete.
