Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
A dental implant is a post, usually titanium, placed in the jaw to hold a replacement tooth. A photograph shows the visible tooth, but the implant, the bone around it and how it was placed all lie beneath the gum and cannot be seen.
Look at the replacement tooth beside its neighbours: does it match in size, shape and colour, and does the gum around it look healthy and level? A tooth that looks different in length, or a gum line that sits lower or higher, is a sign of a harder case.
A photograph cannot show the bite, how the implant has fused with the bone or whether the crown is easy to clean. Treat it as an image of the crown, not of the implant.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
