Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes loose skin and some fat from the upper arm and tightens the area. A photograph shows the new shape, but the scar, the amount of skin removed and the patient's weight history are harder to see.
The first weeks bring swelling, bruising and tightness along the arm, and a compression sleeve is typically worn. Swelling takes weeks to settle, and the scar is red and raised before it fades.
Scars can take a year or more to mature, so a photograph taken in the first months shows the scar at its most visible. The final contour is judged once the swelling has gone.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
