A facelift lifts and tightens the deeper tissues of the face and neck and removes some excess skin. A photograph captures the contour of the face, but the technique, the depth of the lift and the patient's skin quality all sit outside the frame.

Questions to ask before relying on a result like this

Ask which facelift technique was used, how deep it went and where the scars lie, and who performed it. Ask whether the neck, brow or eyelids were treated at the same time, and whether any fat transfer or skin treatment was added.
