Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
Breast reduction removes breast tissue and skin to make the breasts smaller and lighter, and often to relieve back and shoulder discomfort. A photograph shows the shape and size, but not the weight removed, the symptoms before surgery or how sensation has been affected.
The first days bring soreness and swelling, and there may be drains; a surgical bra is worn. Wound checks and dressing changes continue over the first one to two weeks, and you are usually advised to stay for review before flying.
Activity returns gradually over weeks two to six, and small wound openings where the scars meet can occur and heal with care. Swelling settles and the shape softens between three and six months.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
