Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
Breast reduction removes breast tissue and skin to make the breasts smaller and lighter, and often to relieve back and shoulder discomfort. A photograph shows the shape and size, but not the weight removed, the symptoms before surgery or how sensation has been affected.
Compare the size and the shape of the breasts, and the position of the nipples on the chest. Look at how the breasts sit in proportion to the width of the shoulders and the waist, since a reduction changes the balance of the whole upper body.
If the scars are visible, note their pattern: a reduction commonly leaves scars around the nipple, down the breast and along the fold underneath. Check that both photographs were taken in the same position and the same bra, because both change the apparent size and lift.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
