Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
Breast augmentation with implants changes the size and shape of the breasts. A pair of photographs shows the outer result only: the implant's size and type, its position relative to the muscle and the incision are not visible, and neither is the patient's own tissue.
In the first days the chest is tight and sore, more so when the implants lie under the muscle. Over weeks two to six the swelling goes down and the implants begin to soften and drop into place.
They usually settle into their final position between three and six months. A photograph from the early weeks can therefore show implants that sit high and look firm, which is not how they will look later.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
