Follow-up intervals
Each case appears on the pages of the procedure, surgeon and facility named here.
A tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and usually tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. A photograph shows the abdomen from outside, but not the muscle repair beneath it, the scar's length or how the result depends on the person's weight.
Look at the flatness of the abdomen from the side and the shape of the waist from the front. Then look at the position of the belly button and, if it is visible, the scar across the lower abdomen, which usually sits low enough to be hidden by underwear.
Check that the person stands in the same way in both photographs, since a slight lean or a relaxed stomach alters the line. Skin quality and any weight change between the two images matter as much as the operation.
Results vary between patients. Images should not be interpreted as a guarantee of a similar outcome.
