Confirm who is treating you

Most items here can be checked with an external body. If a claim exists only on the clinic's own website, it is unconfirmed.

I have confirmed the surgeon's medical licence with the issuing authority.The clinic's own page is marketing. The licensing body is the source of truth.
I have confirmed any board certification with the certifying board directly.Board names can be close to, but not the same as, a recognised body.
I have the operating surgeon's name in writing.Without a name in writing, you cannot check that the surgeon who operates is the one you chose.
I have confirmed the facility's operating licence.A surgeon's credentials say nothing about the building you will be treated in.
I know whether the facility has an ICU and an emergency department.This is the difference between a complication being handled and being transferred.

A plan made without assessing you is a sales quote. These items separate the two.

I was medically assessed before being given a firm price.Assessment first, price second. The reverse order is a sales process.
I have been told, specifically, what this procedure cannot achieve for me.A provider unwilling to state the limits leaves your expectations unmanaged.
I disclosed my full medical history, medication, and previous surgery.Omissions here can lead to avoidable anaesthetic and healing complications.
I know what type of anaesthesia will be used and who administers it.Anaesthesia risk is separate from surgical risk and has its own qualified provider.
No one has guaranteed me a specific outcome.Guarantees of result are a warning sign, not reassurance. Nobody can promise this.

Many disputes are not about the surgery but about what the price was supposed to cover.

I have an itemised written quote showing inclusions and exclusions.Verbal inclusions are hard to prove and easy to dispute afterwards.
I know who pays if a revision is needed, and under what conditions.Revision terms decide whether a poor result costs you again.
I know what happens financially if a complication requires extra care.This is where an inexpensive package can become the most expensive option.
I have not been pressured by a deadline or expiring discount.Urgency is a sales technique. Clinical need does not expire on Friday.
