JCI-Accredited Hospitals in Turkey
Which hospitals in Turkey appear in the Joint Commission International directory, what that accreditation covers and what it leaves out, and how to check a hospital's status yourself before you book plastic surgery.
Patients often ask which hospitals in Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey are "JCI-accredited" and whether that makes them the right place for plastic surgery. This page gives the list as Joint Commission International (JCI) publishes it, and explains what the accreditation can and cannot tell you. It is not a ranking of hospitals: no hospital pays to appear here, and being listed or not listed is not a judgement on quality.
What the JCI Directory Lists in Turkey
When we filtered the JCI directory of accredited organizations to Turkey on 1 October 2026, it listed 43 organizations. Of these, 38 hold a hospital program or academic medical center hospital program accreditation. The rest are two dental clinic groups, an eye hospital accredited under the ambulatory care program, a university laboratory and a telehealth provider, none of which is a general hospital. The directory changes as accreditations are granted or lapse, so check it again before you decide.
What JCI Accreditation Covers, and What It Does Not
JCI describes its accreditation as awarded to organizations, which is how the directory lists it: a hospital, under a named program such as the hospital program. It is separate from certification for particular clinical services. The certifications JCI lists include programs for conditions and operations such as breast cancer, bariatric surgery, hip replacement and cataract surgery, and the list has no certification for cosmetic or plastic surgery.
So accreditation of a hospital is useful context and no more than that. It does not tell you that your surgeon is a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, how many operations like yours a surgeon performs, what your results will look like, or what aftercare you will get at home. A hospital group may also operate several sites, and only the sites named in the directory are listed.
Hospitals JCI Lists in Turkey
The table gives the hospital program organizations in the directory on 1 October 2026, grouped by city and in alphabetical order within each city. Names are as JCI lists them. It does not say which of these hospitals offer plastic surgery or which surgeons work there: use our hospital directory and the surgeon's own confirmation for that.

How to Check a Hospital Yourself
- Open the JCI directory of accredited organizations and filter by country to Turkey, then search for the hospital's name. Check the exact site and address, because brands such as the hospital groups above run several hospitals and only some may be listed.
- Read which program is listed and when the decision took effect, and ask the hospital for its current accreditation certificate if the date is old.
- Check the hospital against the Turkish checks as well: facilities treating international patients need a health tourism authorisation from the Ministry of Health, and the HealthTürkiye portal publishes a list of certified providers. The Regulation on International Health Tourism and Tourist Health, published on 26 April 2025, sets the rules.
- Then check the surgeon, which accreditation does not do. UK and Turkish plastic surgery societies advise confirming membership of the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, Turkish board certification, at least five years in practice, an aftercare plan and surgery in a fully recognised hospital. Our guide to choosing a surgeon shows how.
Questions to Put to the Hospital
- Which of your sites and programs are accredited, and can I see the certificate?
- Where exactly will my operation take place, and who is the anaesthetist?
- Who monitors me overnight, and how are complications handled?
- Which surgeon will operate, and are they a plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery specialist?
- What happens if I need further treatment after I fly home, and who pays?
The NHS advises asking what happens if there are complications, where follow-up will be and how much it will cost, and our worksheet of questions to ask before paying turns this into a list you can send.
Request Hospital and Surgeon Options
Tell us the procedure you are considering and your travel window and we will come back with options to compare. A request is not a booking, and your plan is only confirmed after examination by the surgeon who will operate.
